UPDATE! 5/20/13

The Appalachian Trail is not just a hike. It is a journey, odessey, and an epic.

The amount of personal strength and growth that develops on the AT
can not be put into words.
I dig deep out here. I've found my strengths, weaknesses, new skills,
a clear mind and my soul.

I have not seen the documentary video about the AT
that was released in Germany. I have met many many Germans on the trail
and they all have the same thing to say,
"The American Wilderness is not an easy hike."

The people out here though are the nicest people ever to walk the
planet earth. Litterally, everyone will give you the shirt off of
their back. It is the people that get me through everyday.

I think often of home and everyone I have left. I miss them
all so bad. It is those thoughts of my loved ones that pulls me
through freezing rain and winds of 70mph on the side
of a 6000ft mountian.

Nature has a spirit about it that makes me fall in love.

I write in a journal everyday of all the beautiful things I see around me.
I can write all day and never catch the beauty that is out on the trail.
There are so many pages that I can not write them here
but at the end of my hike in 5 months I will post a
copy of the book for everyone to read.

To Find Peace, Climb a Mountian.

The Last Hours...

So in these last hours of still being at home i've been reflecting
on all of the things I have learned about myself, nature and the relationship
between humans and the "wilderness".

I can be easily distracted but at the same time I can be very motivated
to get tasks accomplished. Preparing for an odyssey such
as this has taught me to follow through with something
all the way to the end no matter what tries to stop you.
That could be girls, job or money….dont let it stop you.

The moment I take that first step onto the trail at the top
of Springer Mountain……I have succeeded.
I made it to the trail and planned it all. Every step.
Even if I either physically or mentally cant finish the trail…..
i've already beaten the hardest part of the trail.
Having faith.

Check Out These Old Hippies

Great News!!

So i've been snooping around the internet and i've found a couple adventures
while/after we conquer the Appalachian Mountains.
I'm going to start repelling!
I'm thinking about bringing some repelling gear with me so
if I want I can go explore deeper into the forest or to see something cool.

It will also be great practice for when we move out west!
Thats right i've been thinking alot about getting a job out west in a
national park and get paid to show people the woods.
I could go to Arizona, Montana, Yellowstone, Grand Canyon.
There are so many parks and incredible places to explore.

Talking about exploring I really want to see Scotland and other
wonders of beauty on our planet.
There are so many places to go and things to see I cant believe it!

I went to Atlantic City a couple of weekends ago
to see The Who and I must say it wasn't my cup of tea.
I'm more of an outdoor guy. Im not a
partier I just want to be content with all the
beauty around us and share it with other people

Check out how awesome it is!!!

Cunningham Falls Hiking Trip!!!

For this trip we tested out the Trekking Poles. The analysis stands that poles are great!
But they can be dangerous as you cant put your hand out if
you happen to take a tumble.
I do love how they work out more of your body than
just your legs plus they are great for stabilization.
